Journey’s Neal Schon has defended his bandmate Arnel Pineda following recent criticism of the singer’s vocals.

This comes after Pineda came under scrutiny following the band’s recent performance at the Rock in Rio festival, with Pineda subsequently telling fans that he will quit Journey “for good” if they want him to.

Pineda’s recent performances have been slammed by fans of the band, which was further compounded by a video which appeared on Facebook showing the singer struggling to hit the notes for ‘Don’t Stop Believing’.

Neal Schon Calls Out “fabricated crap”

Following this, guitarist Neal Schon jumped to the defence of his under fire bandmate, by sharing a clip from the Rock in Rio stage which he hopes will clear the situation up for fans.

According to Schon, the band only found out “much later” that their PA set up was “extremely limited by Avenged Sevenfold”, who were scheduled to perform at the stage at midnight, hours after Journey’s set at 7pm.

“That means that hardly hardly any sound can get out of the PA to the audience”, Schon wrote.  “It’s a bull**** move. Check out the audience. They loved it the rest of its fabricated crap”.

He continued: “We found out much later that we got extremely limited by Avenged Sevenfold that means that hardly hardly any sound can get out of the PA to the audience. It’s a bull**** move”.

Schon also told fans to “check out the audience”, adding that they “loved it”. He also insisted that the “rest of its fabricated crap”, in a likely reference to the recent online criticism of Pineda.
