Twice as Nice GOLD Wins for Radio Nova at the IMRO Radio Awards

Radio Nova was the BIG winner at The IMRO Radio Awards 2024 held at the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny last night.

‘Nova Guestlist’ presenter, Kieran McGuinness, won back to back GOLD awards, being named ‘Specialist Broadcaster of the Year’ for two years in a row and ‘Morning Glory with PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe’ was crowned the BEST Breakfast show in the country with another GOLD trophy! It’s the third time that the duo have won Gold for Best Breakfast show.

Meanwhile, ‘The Trashcan Sinatras’ documentary by journalist Ken Sweeney from The Irish Sun picked up a Silver award for ‘Music, Arts & Culture Documentary’, while we won Bronze for ‘Station imaging’; station imaging refers to jingles, idents, voiceovers and all pre-produced elements used to define the ‘station sound’ and brand position. A station’s identity package is in essence what a station says about itself.  In addition, our short feature ‘The Greatest Gender Bender of Music’, produced by Clint Drieberg, won Bronze.

The IMRO Radio Awards 2024 is the radio industry’s annual awards ceremony. It lit up the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny as Ireland’s top radio talents gathered to celebrate the industry’s best talents. Hosted by Dermot Whelan, the night saw an array of exceptional broadcasters and those behind the scenes take home the coveted awards across various categories.

With IMRO as the headline sponsor, the event showcased the creativity, innovation, and passion that drives Ireland’s radio sector.

IMRO Chairperson Eleanor McEvoy said, “It’s a privilege for IMRO to continue our longstanding partnership with these Awards. Tonight, we break down geographical barriers, bringing together radio professionals from all corners of Ireland. It’s a rare and special opportunity for us to unite as one community, to celebrate your remarkable achievements, and to offer our heartfelt congratulations.”

Radio Nova Chief Executive, Kevin Branigan, said, “We’ve had an amazing night at the IMROs this year and it’s a great credit to our team of presenters, producers and programmers. It’s wonderful to see our people that work so hard get this recognition from the wider radio industry. Congratulations to PJ, Jim, Clint, Kieran, Ken Sweeney and our creative genius Fiona Scally and everyone at Radio Nova”.
