Paul McCartney helped a couple get engaged during his ongoing South American tour.

The Beatles legend was conducting a soundcheck ahead of his show at Estadio Monumental, Santiago, Chile last Friday (October 11).

During this soundcheck, McCartney noticed Chilean couple Yamil Alamo and Leonora Pereira dressed as 1970s versions of himself and late wife Linda McCartney.

The couple were also holding a sign aloft which read: “Paul: Give us a handshake and we’ll get married”.

McCartney credited with “very special moment”

At this point, Macca invited the couple onto the stage, where Alamo knelt down and proposed to his long term partner of 6 years in front of McCartney.

“This was a very special moment for us because for many years we have tried to meet him and today is the day! I don’t have words to describe the experience”, Alamo said.

The couple who are from La Serena, 400km, had travelled internationally to see the singer live on stage, and consider themselves super-fans of the music legend.

They are to exchange vows to the tune of Paul McCartney’s classic hit, ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’.

Back in July, Paul McCartney added fresh dates to the South American leg of his ‘Got Back’ tour.

The singer confirmed dates for Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Chile as part of the South American leg of this tour, taking place across October and November this year.

“Finishing 2023 in Brazil was an incredible experience. The warmth and love you showed us on our last visit was incredible. We just knew we had to get back and see you again”, he said at the time.
