Stevie Nicks has admitted that she regrets not voting until she turned 70.
The Fleetwood Mac star made this revelation in a interview, having recently encouraged fans to make sure that they are registered to vote in this year’s presidential election this month.
Nicks Calls On Public To Vote
In this interview, Stevie Nicks admitted that she did not register her first vote until she turned 70, something which she regrets.
“I never voted until I was 70, but I regret that. I’ve told everybody that onstage for the last two years”, the singer admitted. “I regret that and I don’t have very many regrets. There’s so many reasons. You can say, ‘Oh, I didn’t have time. I was this and that.’ In the long run, you didn’t have an hour? You didn’t have an hour of your time that you could have gone and voted”.
Back in September, Nicks followed her friend Taylor Swift in endorsing Kamala Harris as the next US President, while also taking aim at Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance who had referred to women who did not have children as “childless cat ladies”.
Urging people to vote, Nicks wrote: “Now is the time to research and choose the candidate that speaks to you and your beliefs. Only 54 days left until the election. Make sure you are registered to vote! Your vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever do”.

Stevie Nicks’ latest tune, ‘The Lighthouse’, was written shortly after the 2022 overturning of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court ruling which protected an individual’s right to have an abortion.
Speaking about this, Stevie Nicks also referred to several artists who have used their music to raise awareness on such issues.
“We have to find a way to bring back Roe vs. Wade”, she added. “In the end of the ’50s and ’60s and into the ’70s, everyone was writing protest songs. Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Stills — it was lots and lots and lots. I would say to all my musical poets that write songs to write some songs about what’s happening like I did”.
Last month, Joni Mitchell also became the latest musician to call out Donald Trump, after blasting the former president’s views on immigrants, telling an audience at a recent show: “Everybody get out and vote. This is an important one. I wish I could vote – I’m Canadian. I’m one of those lousy immigrants”. More on this here.
