Coldplay frontman Chris Martin fell down a trapdoor while performing on stage in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend.

The singer was on stage as Coldplay performed shows from their ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour, when the unfortunate incident happened.

Martin had been addressing the crowd after Coldplay had delivered a live rendition of ‘Everglow’, when he suddenly fell through the trap door as he was walking backwards.

The lead singer’s fall was thankfully cushioned by a crew member, who stuck his hands out through the hole, catching Martin.

“Thank you for catching me, so much. Holy s***, that was nearly a YouTube moment”, a grateful Martin said when getting to his feet. See footage of this incident here.

Martin & Co Perform First Show Without Guy Berryman

Coldplay have been performing shows in Australia over the past week.

Last week, the band performed on stage without their bassist Guy Berryman “for the first time in the band’s history”.

This show marked the first time that Coldplay had performed on stage without all four of their original bandmembers.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin had revealed that bassist Guy Berryman had been taken ill with food poisoning.

“Don’t eat bacon and eggs if the eggs aren’t quite cooked,” he warned the crowd, before adding: “There is no Coldplay without Guy, me, Will [Champion, drummer] and Jonny [Buckland, guitarist]. And thank you to Bill for yesterday who was just amazing”.

Chris Martin had also added that Berryman was “very very sick” and would “not be able to play” the show, before adding: “So we’ll have a slightly different show”.

He continued: “We’ll do our best to make it amazing – and I know that it will be amazing, because we’re in Melbourne with all of you beautiful people”.
