E Street band drummer, Max Weinberg has said that fans will love the material from this new box set from Bruce Springsteen.
This box set, titled, 'Lost Albums II' will see Springsteen release seven previously unheard albums, which were produced between 1983 and 2018. It was also confirmed that it would be released via Columbia Records on June 27.
"I’ve heard everything and I think the fans are going to love it", Weinberg told The Times. "There is one album [Inyo] Bruce played me where he utilised a mariachi band of musicians, Hispanic musicians. It was just incredible, incredible music".
In a promo video for this box set, Bruce Springsteen can be heard saying: “I often read about myself in the 1990s as having some ‘lost period. Not really. I was working the whole time".
He also added: “The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions".
It was also confirmed that this box set would include the lo-fi La Garage Sessions '83, which have been called “a crucial link between Nebraska and Born In The USA". More on this from Nova here.
Back in 1982, Bruce Springsteen had demoed a number of songs on a four track Tascam 144 portastudio, before later mixing both acoustic and full band sessions. He later decided that these recordings were not how he wanted them presented to the public.
These recordings were to serve as a follow up to his chart topping album, Nebraska, with Max Weinberg now saying that these recordings are made public some day.
“There’s been this myth that they weren’t well played but we played the hell out of them," he stated. "I know the songs were recorded, the tracks are there, so I hope one day Electric Nebraska does make the light of day".
