Great news for all AC/DC fans.
In an interview with Florida radio station (Gater 98.7) AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has confirmed that the band will be hitting the studio in May of this year. In addition, he also confirmed that the band will be setting out on a 40th anniversary tour where the band intend to play 40 special gigs to commemorate the big milestone.
“Its been 40 years of the band’s existence. So I think we’re gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we’ll have to go out, even though we’re getting a bit long in the tooth. You know what? It’s been four years, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Although he says that the band will be hitting the studio, he doesn’t however confirm that its to record a new album.
It has been six years since the band’s 2008 “Black Ice” album so maybe this would be a good time for the band to record new material to coincide with the anniversary celebrations.
In any case this is great news for AC/DC fans the world over.
From an Irish perspective, seeing as Slane 2014 is cancelled this year maybe this paves the way for the concert everyone wants, AC/DC FOR SLANE.
Hopefully Sir Henry Mountcharles can work his magic and get a band like AC/DC, a band fit for Slane (unlike some of the headliners we have seen in the past) to include the venue for one of their 40 special gigs, and who could argue that wouldn’t be so so special.
