When David Bowie makes a promise, he keeps his word, the singer reveals he is to put out new music.
Back in mid-July, the rock star confirmed he was working on new material, saying there will be “more music soon”.
Now after making music for six decades, he is to put out a new song ‘Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)’ as part of a new greatest hits collection called Nothing Has Changed.
Nothing Has Changed takes its name from a lyric on ‘Sunday’ from the 2002 record Heathen. The new single was recorded by long-time collaborator Tony Visconti.
The compilation is due out in November and spans fifty years of Bowie’s material from 1964-2014, including rarities such as ‘Your Turn To Drive’ and the 2001 version of ‘Shadow Man’ and James Murphy’s ‘Hello Steve Reich Mix’ of ‘Love Is Lost’.
The greatest hits will also include, the previously unreleased ‘Let Me Sleep Beside You’ from the Toy album sessions, his first ever single ‘Liza Jane’, as well as the classics ‘Ziggy Stardust’ and ‘Life On Mars?’
The new single will be released as a digital download as part of the collection and individually as a special edition 10″ single. Those who go for the 10″ receive an additional bonus: the B-side is another new single called “‘Tis A Pity She’s A Whore.”
There may be more music to follow, Visconti told Billboard they worked on 29 songs, only 17 of which made it on to versions of last year’s album, The Next Day. “He just wants to make records. He feels like that’s what he’s entitled to do now.”
