If you’re a child of the eighties there’s a very high percentage chance you tried your best to recreate some moves from Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ video.

‘Thriller’ brought together all of the best qualities of Jacko, innovative choreography, a groundbreaking visual stlye, brought to life with cutting edge make-up and of course a phenomenally catchy tune.

The film will be directed by John Landis, who also directed the original 14-minute video. Landis co-wrote the screenplay with Jackson, and the video debuted in December 1983.

Landis has been involved in a legal dispute with Jackson’s estate for the past few years over the music video’s royalties. That mess has now been cleared up and the director is forging ahead to bring the iconic video to the big screen. “That lawsuit went on for so many years, but we settled and they paid me finally,” Landis said.

The hugely influential music video is due to be released in 3-D next year. The video will also be released on Blu-ray for the first time.

Landis said the film, “is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen.”

The director was pushed on what else fans can expect to see in the movie, “I cannot tell you any more.” He added, trying his best Vincent Price impression, I might have to kill you.

Apparently ‘Thriller’ won’t just be entering the film world. A Jackson family spokesperson speculated that they might enter the world of video games. “The estate has been looking at gaming ideas, too, and ‘Thriller’ fits into the genre… It could a be a dance experience or a zombie-style,shoot-’ em-up-style movie. There are so many possibilities with this creative masterpiece.”

Possibly a first-person shooter game, where zombies dodge bullets pulling Thriller dance moves, who knows.
