Johnny Marr has been forced to cancel his upcoming tour of Australia & New Zealand due to an ongoing family illness.
He was supposed to start the Aussie tour from January 29th, performing in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane Sydney and Auckland.
Fans of Johnny Marr will be left disappointed, but due to the seriousness of the illness of his family member, they will undoubtedly understand and respect his reasons.
In a statement Marr said:
“I’m really disappointed to not be able to play these shows. The touring has been so enjoyable for me and the band and the audiences have been great everywhere. If it was about just me just being unwell I would have found a way to continue as I did when I broke my hand last year, but to not be there for one of my family is not right. Thank you to everyone for the kind messages. See you soon. Johnny. X”
Marr was promoting his second solo album Playland for the past month in the States. However, he had to cut that tour short to return to the UK to spend time with his family.
Marr said he hopes to reschedule all the concerts in the not to distant future.
