Kurt Cobain's surviving family members are currently embroiled in a court case to prevent new images of the grunge icon's death scene being released.

Cobain's widow, Courtney Love and daughter, Francis Bean have written to a judge in Seattle to urge for the new photos not to be released to the public. A Seattle based public access TV station owner' Richard Lee, is suing the city's police department for the photos which he says will prove Cobain's death was not suicide.

Cobain died in 1994 from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Lee says the photos, which have never been seen by the public, will prove Cobain was actually murdered.

In other news a previously unreleased and untitled Cobain solo song will feature in the theatrical release of the recent documentary, "Montage of Heck". The film was originally released to a select number of cinemas worldwide in May but it has since been announced that it will be re-released on August 7th to a wider audience.

The track reportedly contains Cobain singing in falsetto and is thought to have been recorded in 1991.
