It appears that the live re-staging of The Beatles Abbey Road Sessions is set to go on tour in 2016. It will take place at various locations around the UK, with no Irish dates currently confirmed.
The re-staging of the sessions is being billed as “part blockbuster stage show, part access-all-areas musical documentary.” It is simply called The Sessions, and it sees 45 cast members and musicians recreate a suite of famous tracks recorded by The Beatles at the famous London studios.
The show will first be previewed at a charity event in Liverpool on March 30th 2016. It will then make its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London on April 1st.
The tour will then go on a 11 show run across the UK in locations such as Brighton, Cardiff, Nottingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester, Aberdeen, Leeds and Birmingham, before finishing up with two nights in London.
The reproduction of Abbey Road studios is said to be ‘state of the art’ and was inspired by the memoir of Abbey Road sound engineer Geoff Emerick, who acted as the show’s Creative Consultant. A press release for the show stated that it’s “sonically authentic to the original recordings”.
