It's the 1st of September which means that it's Radio NOVA's 6th birthday!

The station was launched at 1pm on September 1st 2010. The very first song played was AC/DC 'You Shook Me All Night Long", which was followed by our very own Greg Gaughran, who made the first link on Radio NOVA, straight into the instantly recognisable 'All Right Now' by Free.

Here at Radio NOVA, we're celebrating all day! However we're not the only ones because as it turns out, we share our birthday with some famous faces from the world of Rock.

Barry Gibb celebrates his 70th birthday today along with Bruce Foxton, bass player for The Jam, who is 61, and Ricky Horror, rhythm guitarist for Motionless in White, who is 28 today.

The first four songs played on Radio NOVA were a mix of the greatest rock tunes around. AC/DC 'You Shook Me All Night Long' and Free 'All Right Now' were followed by Blur's 'Song 2', straight into Boston's 'More Than A Feeling' and then into Bon Jovi's 'Livin' On A Prayer.'

The station was launched with a massive party down on the quays with stellar tribute act, Guns 2 Roses, dance flash mobs and most importantly - hundreds of die hard rock fans!
