It’s been just over a year since the legendary singer’s death and the vaults are now being opened into Bowie’s back catalogue. In honour of Record Store Day, two previously unreleased David Bowie albums are being sent out into the world.

The first is Cracked Actor (Live in Los Angeles 1974) which is a three-album set recorded which contains material used in the famous BBC documentary Cracked Actor.  The album was recorded during the Philly Dogs tour and features Luther Vandross on backing vocals. The album was compiled after all 16 multi-track tapes from the concert were reunited in one place last year. Bowie’s longtime collaborator Tony Visconti mixed them for this release.

Some of Bowie’s most famous songs are included in the album, including Space Oddity. It will be released as a triple vinyl five-sided album with the sixth side featuring an etching of Bowie’s old logos.

The second album will be the official release ‘Bowpromo’, which had been a promo album from 1971. The album had previously been a rare collectors piece for fans as only 500 copies had previously been made.  The album is made up of alternative versions of songs from his Hunky Dory.

The album replicates the original release with an additional five exclusive Bowie prints and new sleeve notes.

Record Store Day will be on April 22 and the albums will only have a limited release. So for any Bowie fans out there hoping to hear something new, you better get on it quick!
