Gardaí have revealed 24 planned searches took place this morning throughout the capital during an investigation into an organised crime gang based in Cabra.
The Criminal Asset Bureau, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Emergency Response Unit and Armed Support Unit were all on hand to lend assistance as the searches were carried out in both private residences and professional offices.
Properties in Cabra, Finglas, Monkstown, Leixlip, Courtown and Gorey were all part of the wider search as Gardaí say they seized a large amount of ‘documentation and evidence’ they believe is related to the proceeds of crime.
In Finglas, Gardaí reported the findings of a large quantity of cocaine, with an approximate street value of €3,500.
A 37-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, while the search operation is still ongoing.
