Michael Bolton is here in Dublin tonight. He’s sold more than 75 million records, has recorded eight top 10 albums and reached two number-one singles on the Billboard charts with two of his tracks. He’s also won multiple American Music Awards and Grammy Awards and given us this beauty….
Bolton began recording in 1975. His first album was self-titled using his original family name of Bolotin. When he started out he focused more on hard rock with his band Blackjack. They even opened for Ozzy Osbourne on tour at one stage! Bolton actually auditioned as lead vocalist for Black Sabbath in 1983 but wasn’t successful. How mad would that have been!
He’s back on the radar big time since hosting his hilarious Netflix show Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special. The sexy telethon’s dedicated to helping you make babies by Christmas! Akiva Schaffer (of The Lonely Island fame) and Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Bang!) created and wrote the special. It also features Fred Armisen, Adam Scott, Sarah Silverman, Maya Rudolph, and at least a dozen other stars. It’s stupid but brilliant.
Tickets for tonight gig at the 3Arena are €60.95. Doors are at 6.30pm and head out a bit earlier to avoid the traffic up around the quays.
