Actor And Comedian Jon Kenny Dies Aged 66

Actor and comedian Jon Kenny, best known for working opposite Pat Shortt in the comedy duo, D’Unbelievavles, has died aged 66.

Born in Co Limerick, Kenny found fame in the 1990s with D’Unbelievables, where he played several off-the-wall characters alongside Pat Shortt. He is also renowned for his role as Eurovision host Mr Fred Rickwood in the Father Ted episode, ‘A Song For Europe’. 

Kenny’s other credits include films Les Misérables (1998), The VanAngela’s AshesMrs Brown’s Boys D’MovieSong of the SeaWolfwalkers, and The Banshees of Inisherin, where he reunited with Pat Shortt.

He also starred on stage in Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops To Conquer at The Abbey Theatre, John B Keane’s The Matchmaker, and Crowman by Katie Holly, which saw Kenny portray ten characters.

He was also an acclaimed poet and stand up comic.

His death was confirmed, having been receiving treatment for cancer and heart failure.
