Alec Baldwin has thanked his fans for their support following the dismissal of the involuntary manslaughter case against him by a New Mexico judge.

The US actor broke down in tears with his wife Hilaria after the ruling from Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer, who ruled that the charges against Mr Baldwin regarding the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in the Rust film set be dropped.

This case was dismissed by Judge Sommer due to the misconduct of the police and prosecutors over the withholding of ammunition evidence from the defence.

Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot dead by a prop gun on the film set in October 2021. Alec Baldwin was in possession of the gun which fired the live round, fatally wounding Ms Hutchins in the chest, and injuring director Joel Souza.

If convicted, Alec Baldwin could have faced up to 18 months in prison.

Baldwin Thanks Fans For Their “kindness”

Following the case dismissal, Alec Baldwin issued this statement via Instagram.

“There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now”, the actor wrote. “To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family”.

Baldwin’s post on social media was also met with messages of support from household names like Jeremy Renner and Anthony Hopkins.

Marvel star Jeremy Renner wrote: “Bless you sir”.

Elsewhere, stage and screen star Anthony Hopkins also added a love heart emoji. Actor Frances Fisher also added: “Whatever comes next, we are by your side, Alec”.

Back in April, Rust armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison in relation to the shooting of Mrs Hutchins.

Ms Gutierrez-Reed was also found guilty the previous month, after mistakenly loading a live round into a revolver, causing the death of Mrs Hutchins in October 2021.
