Blur bassist Alex James has admitted that he thought the band might “never happen again” ahead of their comeback last year.
James made these comments when speaking about the dynamic of Blur ahead of the release of their new documentary, Blur: To The End. He also reflected on the eight years that the band had spent apart.
However, the musician did admit that he did not think the members would ever reunite once again.

Speaking to Heart Kent’s Rich Clarke last night, Alex James also spoke about reforming the band with some huge shows at Wembley Stadium, as well as their comeback album, ‘The Ballad Of Darren’ and their feature length film.
“It premiered last night in the West End, and it was really great to see all the boys. I’m really glad we captured all that fun and games”, Alex James said. “There were moments where I thought ‘Is this going to work?’ But as soon as we get together in a room, it’s always fine”.

“It just tells the story of the band getting back together and doing our biggest ever shows, which were also our best ever. It was wonderful, magic. It was really good”.

This feature length film has been directed by Transgressive Records founder Toby L.
It reflects on the reunion between James, and the other Blur bandmates including Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree.
The film also looks at how the band returned to record their comeback album, ‘The Ballad Of Darren’ last year.
“It had been eight years since we had last even spoke to each other actually, and I was starting to think it would maybe never happen again. But well, watch the film, you’ll see it’s a wonderful story”, James said.
