Spotify is back up and running, after being hit with a huge service outage.

At around 1pm on Wednesday, the service monitoring site, Downdetector said that more than 20,000 reports of user issues with the service were logged, with users reporting problems with the Spotify app and website. This outage left thousands of users unable to stream music that day.

"We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out", Spotify initially posted.

The platform later confirmed that they were back in operation, giving the "all clear" almost three hours after it first announced the outage.

In a statement, Spotify assured users that this outage had not resulted from a "security hack".

"All clear - thanks for your patience", was the short message posted on X by the platform.

In April last year, Spotify also confirmed that they would be increasing their monthly premium membership by over 9%.

At the time, a spokesperson for the site said that these hikes were done “so that we can keep innovating and delivering value to fans, the music industry, and creators on our platform, we occasionally update our prices”,  They added: “We’ve begun communicating with existing subscribers in the UK to explain what this means for their account".
