Irish actor Andrew Scott has been nominated for two Emmys for his work in Netflix’s ‘Ripley’.

The 47-year-old was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his performance in the leading role of Tom Ripley.

Scott has also been nominated for his role as a producer on the show.

The moody black-and-white miniseries ‘Ripley’ was based off of the 1955 novel ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’, written by Patricia Highsmith. The show was created, written and directed by Steven Zaillan and also starred actors Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn.

The Dublin-born star has some steep competition in his category, up against the likes of Matt Bomer (Fellow Travelers), Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer), Jon Hamm (Fargo) and Tom Hollander (Feud: Capote vs The Swans).

Scott wasn’t the only Irish person nominated as costume designer Consolata Boyle also received a nomination for her work on HBO’s ‘The Regime’.

Boyle is nominated for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie. This will be her third Emmy nomination and possibly her second win after she won an Emmy for her work on The Lion in Winter in 2004.

‘Shogun’, a period drama, takes the cake for the most nominations this year, with 25 separate nominations. ‘The Bear’ follows with 23 Emmy nominations – a new comedy record.

Other shows being recognised include Netflix’s ‘The Crown’, securing 18 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series.

Richard Gadd’s black comedy ‘Baby Reindeer’ has also received 11 separate nominations.

The 76th Emmy Awards are set to take place on September 15th at The Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
