Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and his side project The Arcs have released a new single titled "Lake Superior". The band said that the track was inspired by the new Netflix documentary Making A Murderer.
The documentary is about a man from Manitowoc, Wisconsin in the US, who was wrongly convicted of rape and spent 18 years in prison for it. The man, who is named Steven Avery was released in 2003 and filed a law suit against the Manitowoc County Police Department for wrongly imprisoning him.
However just before the lawsuit against the department was filed, he was arrested for murder with Avery pleading innocent. The documentary shares the view that he was framed and those that were getting suede by him planted the evidence against him.
The show has become hugely successful over the past number of weeks with the documentary becoming a hit on Netflix. The Arcs said they were inspired by the series to write a song.
The Arcs said "Like Billy Childish says "We live in troubled times". Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered in two days,"
