The Glastonbury 2015 merry-go-round continues, who will headline next year? The latest reports are that the Libertines will top the bill.
Rumours have been floating around about a number of bands, Foo Fighters, Noel Gallagher with either the High Flying Birds or Oasis, AC/DC, Muse and Coldplay.
Now seemingly out of nowhere, the Libertines are in talks to headline the iconic festival next summer.
The speculation is that the likely lads aren’t just going to headline Glasto, they’re in the running to top the bill at the Reading and Leeds festivals too.
A source has told The Sun that Pete, Carl, Gary and John will be topping either The Pyramid or The Other Stage at Glasto next summer. There is a fairly big difference between a show on the main stage as opposed to an afternoon slot on one of the many other stages.
”The Libertines have been on Glastonbury’s wishlist for ages but shot straight to the top when they saw the appetite for them,” said the ‘source’. “They are still deciding if the band will headline the Pyramid or the Other Stage.”
The lads have said they won’t be playing live until they have new material. At this very moment the band are working on new material for their third album. Carl Barat and Pete Doherty have already written 5 songs for the upcoming LP, that is due out next year. The band’s last record was The Libertines released a decade ago.
