Writer and producer Allison McGourty described the painstaking efforts that spanned five years, with transatlantic trips yielding troves of hidden gems: forgotten reels in attics, fading photos in basements, and neglected recordings brought back to life.
Each artifact was carefully restored using state-of-the-art techniques to ensure the final product dazzles in the IMAX format. "We transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound like they came out of the lab yesterday," McGourty remarked, underscoring the transformative power of the restoration process.
For guitarist and producer Jimmy Page, this film represents a departure from the dismal pitches he's seen over the years. "They’d want to be concentrating on anything but the music, and consequently I would recoil immediately from that sort of thing" Page noted, explaining his long-standing reluctance to engage with filmmakers.
Becoming Led Zeppelin, however, won him over by embracing the soul of the band's artistry. "It's all about the music," Page enthused, highlighting the inclusion of full song performances over the fragmented glimpses typical of other rock documentaries. "This belongs in a category of its own."
