Billie Joe Armstrong made a visit to the set of the Tonight Show on Friday to perform a solo version of "Ordinary World". The Green Day front-man chose to accompany himself solely with an acoustic guitar for the performance of the ballad.

The song was originally written for the 2016 film Ordinary World, with Armstrong playing the lead role, as an elderly musician. Armstrong's band Green Day then adapted the track as the closing track on their album Revolution Radio.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Armstrong said the following:

"After all of the chaos that's on the album, whether it's pop culture or whatever new apps we're using, everything gets so complicated. At some point you want something simple . That's sort of what 'Ordinary World' is about."
