Billy Joel shared a previously unheard song called ‘Every Time’ on John Mayer’s new radio show.
The track which you can check out below, featured on Mayer’s pilot episode of his new SiriusXM show, How’s Life.
Joel shared this song, after he was asked by Mayer if he had any parts of an unfinished track that he would like to share.
The Piano Man singer said that this song was inspired by an idea which he had been sitting on for “years and years and years and years”.
Adding that he did not think anyone had heard it, Joel began to play a piano solo for the track, where he remarked: “The thought behind that was, ‘I’ll screw it up every time’”.

Stevie Wonder Tried To Teach Bob Dylan How To Sing – Billy Joel
Earlier this year, Billy Joel claimed that he witnessed Stevie Wonder trying to teach Bob Dylan how to sing.
Joel mentioned this while reflecting on recording his 1985 charity single, ‘We Are The World’.
The track went on to become the ninth best selling single of all time, topping the charts worldwide.
Explaining this, Joel said, “Funny things were happening. Bob Dylan was shy to sing on his own. So Stevie Wonder comes out and is telling Bob how to sing like Bob Dylan. ‘We are the world. We are the children.’ And Dylan’s like, ‘Okay, I think I can do that.’”
“Stevie Wonder teaching Bob Dylan to sing like Bob Dylan was a moment”.
On how the song came about, Joel also added that he had been scheduled to be in LA that week, and thought “What the hell, this could be fun”.
He also said that none of the other artists knew what they were recording for.
He stated: “I’m standing next to Cyndi Lauper. Now we’re all being filmed while this is going on. And she’s leaning over to me, going ‘This song sounds like a Pepsi commercial’”.
