You might know her from her ‘Where Is The Love’ or ‘My Humps’ days with The Black Eyed Peas, or maybe her ‘Fergalicious’ ‘London Bridge’ strolls. What we aren’t familiar with, is Fergie doing a bad job when it comes to music. But she did it.
The singer performed the American National Anthem to open the NBA All-Star game last night, February 18th, and has been widely mocked for her ‘different’ and ‘sexy’ take on it. Some say it was so bad, that Phoebe from Friends could have done a better job.
Several stars in the audience even appeared to laugh during the performance, including Jimmy Kimmel and Chance The Rapper.
Former NBA player Charles Barkley said the following during half-time analysis: ‘I need a cigarette after that’. But Shaquille O’Neal defended Fergie’s performance, describing it as ‘different and sexy’.
Stephen Curry’s team faced a team led by LeBron James, with the latter side winning 148-145.
Check out the performance for yourself below, but make sure to lower the volume:
Aaaand, Twitter’s reaction:
This All Star opening is confusing me. WTF is going on? Anyone?

Let's be real, #Fergie gave the U.S. the anthem it deserves right now.

Let’s all be thankful for Fergie’s National Anthem performance last night. For anyone that needed a laugh, the universe blessed us. 🙏🏼

You’d expect a lot more from an experienced singer like Fergie.
