Queen legend Brian May is putting 11 of his Badger brand guitars up for auction this weekend – in aid of badger charities. Yes, that’s right, badgers. The woodland animal. May has campaigned for years against the culling policy on badgers, which was brought in to stop the spread of bovine tuberculosis.
Spokesperson for May’s Save Me Trust Anne Brummer, said the following about the trust: “The trust’s core work is in halting the badger culls and protecting and strengthening the Hunting Act. Science clearly shows that killing badgers will never stop bovine TB in cattle. Save Me aims to work collaboratively to find the solution to this devastating disease.”
May has teamed up with founder of Red Badger Records Philip White and Mark Badger, a guitar manufacturer to sell the custom guitars on eBay.
“The trust’s core work is in halting the badger culls and protecting and strengthening the Hunting Act. Science clearly shows that killing badgers will never stop bovine TB in cattle. Save Me aims to work collaboratively to find the solution to this devastating disease.”
Philip White said this: “I have always wanted to take my charity work to the next level. This will hopefully be the first of many projects – and hopefully more will be badger orientated.”
Mark Badger added: “Hopefully through the auction and surrounding publicity generated over the coming weeks more people will awaken and be made aware of all the cruelty and stupid acts that have been taking place over the past several years.”
If you want to help the badger cause and get your hands on one of the guitars, the eBay auctions start on Saturday the 26th of August until the 5th of September. The auctions will run for 24 hours each and will begin at noon each day.
