Brian May has hinted that new music from Queen could be in the pipeline.
The band who were led by late frontman Freddie Mercury, posthumously released their fifteenth and final record , 'Made In Heaven' in 1995, following Mercury's death four years earlier.
They reunited and performed live with Paul Rodgers as lead vocalist in 2004, before singer Adam Lambert deputised as the band's frontman in 2011. In 2022, the much loved rock band rediscovered a lost track, 'Face It Alone', featuring Mercury's vocals.
Last year, they also played a huge run of shows as part of their 'Rhapsody Tour', which concluded in Tokyo.
Now, in a new interview, Queen guitarist Brian May has said that new music could be a real possibility for the band.
“Both Roger [Taylor] and I are constantly writing and coming up with ideas and doing things in our studios. I could have the beginnings of a Queen song right there in front of me now. It’s just whether the idea reaches maturity or not. It’s whether that seed can grow", May told MOJO.
May's comments would appear to echo similar remarks made by bandmate Roger Taylor last year, who also said that new music from the band could be on the horizon.
“Brian [May] and myself were talking the other day, and we both said that if we feel we have some good material, why not? We can still play. We can still sing. So I don’t see why not", Taylor said at the time. More on this from Nova here.
In other news, Queen were recently named as one of the recipients of the prestigious Polar Music Prize.
Alongside Herbie Hancock and Barbara Hannigan, the band were named as winners of this year's award, which honours artists who have made a "pioneering music legacy". More on this from Nova here.
