British Police will travel to Dublin for this weekend's Nations League Match between the Republic of Ireland and England.
The sell out game takes place on Saturday at the Aviva Stadium at 5 pm.
Officers from Britain will not have policing powers but will observe fans travelling from the UK.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris confirmed that if there was any form of public order incidents involving England fans, then they would be able to assist Gardai.
Mr Harris also pointed to "Supporters" who are on banned travel lists by Police there and also the English FA, who have issued a warning to those travelling to behave themselves.
In 1995, a friendly match between the Republic of Ireland and England, saw violent scenes, caused by travelling supporters.
However the teams have played each other since, at Wembley in 2013 and 2020, while they also played at Aviva Stadium in 2015. Each of those matches went without incident.
