Broadcaster Keelin Shanley Has Died

RTÉ broadcaster Keelin Shanley has passed away at the age of 51. She had been unwell for some time.

She had most recently been the anchor of Six One News on RTÉ One and was an award-winning journalist.

Alongside Caitriona Perry, the pair became the first female duo to anchor the programme.

RTE said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of RTÉ journalist and broadcaster Keelin Shanley.

"Keelin Shanley passed away peacefully this afternoon aged 51. She had been dealing with cancer for some time. With over 20 years experience as a journalist and broadcaster, Keelin was the much-loved and respected presenter of RTÉ’s Six One News."
