Ryan Adam recently covered one of Bryan Adams most famous songs and the ‘Summer of ‘69’ singer says he is ‘happy’ about it.
After being heckled at a show to sing Bryan Adam’s ‘Summer of ‘69’ thirteen years ago, Ryan Adams finally gave in and carried out the request thirteen years later during a concert at the Ryman.
Bryan Adams has recently spoken about the cover saying “Ryan wrote to me to tell me the day before that he was going to do it. I think it was some sort cathartic release for him to return to that venue and play that, as you probably know the story there. So I think in some ways, he has been haunted by the song somewhat, which is a shame because it’s a really great song. Anyway, I’m happy he did it. He’s a great artist. And sure I’d sing one of his songs. I’m not sure which one, though.”
Ryan Adams had previously told Spin how much hecklers got to him; “They come to my shows just to provoke me. I had to go into therapy because of the whole Byran Adams ‘Summer of ‘69’ thing.”
The two singers have become friends over the past year with Ryan Adams wishing Bryan a happy birthday last winter via twitter saying “@bryanadams I will be toasting you from a secret Pinball Lair with California’s most wondrous greenery!”
