Catfish And The Bottlemen Cancel Dublin Show Minutes Before Doors

Welsh Band Catfish And The Bottlemen cancelled their RDS gig on Saturday evening, 15 minutes before doors were due to open. The announcement made by promoters MCD was met with huge disappointment from fans, and thus far there has been no official statement from the band themselves. MCD’s statement was as follows: “We regret to inform you that tonight’s Catfish and the Bottlemen show is cancelled due to artist illness. Refunds are available from point of purchase. Apologies to all the fans who have traveled to the show today and for any inconvenience caused.”

According to social media, some people had travelled from the likes of Belfast and England for the concert, and had accommodation booked. As was surely a similar experience for many of the gig’s (almost) attendees, one user said on X: “Been dying to see Catfish and the Bottlemen in Dublin for months, was sat outside a pub about to finish my pint 10 mins before doors and some random fella says they’ve cancelled. Nice one lads.”

Now, it seems as though the band have axed their entire Australia, New Zealand and North American runs as well, which were due to take place before the end of the year. While the band have yet to issue a statement regarding the tour’s cancellation, Australian ticket holders confirmed that they received notification of the tour’s cancellation just ahead of its scheduled kickoff today (September 4). According to Moshtix, their ticketing partner, the band “were really looking forward to the shows”.

The news came not long after Catfish And The Bottlemen headlined Leeds and Reading festival earlier this year, a show that generated incredible reviews such as one from NME which predicted the band was “on the brink of something special”.

Will the band be able to complete their scheduled shows next summer – including a night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London? Fans will have to wait and see.
