Many celebrities were among those forced to flee their homes in Los Angeles, as wildfires rage through the city, devastating neighbourhoods across the coast.
More than 30,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes, with a state of emergency being issued as the fires take hold along the Pacific Palisades, a popular residential area for celebrities. People have been forced to abandon their cars in traffic jams on the road and move on foot.
The Palisades area contains many hilltop homes along winding roads which look over the sea.
Among the names affected include actor Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. He was forced to evacuate his home in Malibu, telling people to "stay safe".
Hamill also said that there were small fires on both sides of the road that he fled.
Others affected included reality TV star Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt, who also lost their home to the fire, with the latter sharing footage of the fire spreading via Instagram.
Pratt's sister Stephanie also revealed that her brother's house was destroyed. This was caused by a strong wind which was so strong, which was so severe, leaving it impossible to save the building.
Chet Hanks, the son of actor Tom Hanks, also wrote on social media: “The neighbourhood I grew up in is burning to the ground".
Actor Eugene Levy, who starred in American Pie and Schitt's Creek, had to evacuate his home on Tuesday, revealing that while stuck in traffic: “The smoke looked pretty black and intense".
Steven Guttenburg, who starred in the 1987 comedy, Three Men and a Baby, and lives in the Palisades, also urged people to abandon their cars, and leave their keys inside, so they can be moved to make way for fire engines.
“What’s happening is people take their keys with them, as if they’re in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot. We really need people to move their cars", he said.
Footage of the flames along Palisades was posted by actor James Woods.
Woods featured in Casino and Once Upon a Time in America.
“Standing in my driveway, getting ready to evacuate", he said in a short video posted on X. “It tests your soul, losing everything at once, I must say", later added. See footage of this here.
These wildfires have also led to film premieres being cancelled in LA, including Robbie Williams' 'Better Man' biopic, while an in-person nominations ceremony for the Screen Actors Guild, was also cancelled.
Back in 2023, tragic wildfires spread across the island of Maui, which led to the deaths of over 100 people, and destroyed a restaurant owned by Fleetwood Mac's drummer Mick Fleetwood. More on this here.
