Italian football club Lazio has again gave sustenance to the theory that they just might be in fact, a tad right-wing, with displays of anti-Irish tropes against Celtic fans on Tuesday.
In the Eternal city, Lazio’s hardcore Ultras unfurled a huge anti-Irish banner during their UEFA Champions League win over Celtic at Stadio Olimpico.
Celtic lost 2-0, but there was more interest it seems, in what was happening off the pitch and in the stands as the Scottish champions following gave as good as they got.
The rabid home fans hostility was evident from the kick off as they unfurled a large banner that read: “The famine is over go home f***ing potato eaters”.
Outside the famous ground, there was also a photograph of Lazio fans displaying another offensive banner that said: “Did the Fenian bastards take shower today?”
The conflict went further when the away end was pelted with missiles from the home section, while flares were thrown as well even a firework police and stewards havinf has their work cut to control the home fans indiscriminate anger.

The only thing separating the two sets of fans was large gap and a wire, as both threw missiles while repeated forms of verbal abuse was flung in both directions.
A late brace from home favourite Ciro Immobile gave Lazio victory, but it was the unsavoury scenes between fans that people were discussing.
