Forget hyperbole, provided you ensure you’re on camera when someone like Nigel Farage is spouting his views all it takes is one facial gesture to make your point clearly felt. 21-year-old student Harriet Ellis was a member of the crowd in a TV Brexit debate last Monday on Channel 4. Ellis delivered her scathing eye-roll at the former leader of UKIP, Nigel Farage.
Her reaction resonated with people on social media. In an interview with Mashable, Ellis spoke about what it felt like to go viral,
“It’s really strange to go viral. A guy came up to me after the show and asked if I’d checked my phone because apparently I was all over Twitter!”
She also stated that most of the reaction was positive,
“99 percent of people have been really nice, which has been great,” Ellis said. “Some people have been negative, but to be honest, if they want to spend their Monday evening being mean to a 21-year-old girl online, then let them have their fun.”
