Stevie Nicks has followed in the footsteps of Taylor Swift in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election.
Swift had already endorsed her support for Kamala Harris, in a post shared via Instagram.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”, Swift wrote earlier this week.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades”.
Nicks calls on the US to make “one of the most important things you ever do”
Following on from Swift’s statement, her friend Stevie Nicks has pledged her support for Harris ahead of her showdown with Donald Trump.
Calling Swift a “friend”, Nicks wrote: “Now is the time to research and choose the candidate that speaks to you and your beliefs. Only 54 days left until the election. Make sure you are registered to vote! Your vote in this election may be one of the most important things you ever do”.
While she did not endorse a candidate or party in her post, Nicks signed off in a similar fashion to Swift, writing: “Love, Stevie Nicks, Childless Dog Lady”, just as Swift called herself “Childless Cat Lady” in hers.
This appears to be a response to comments which were made by Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance, who referred to Democrat politicians as “childless cat ladies”.
These comments received huge criticism, especially from Jennifer Aniston, who has opened up about her own struggles with fertility.
Former Fleetwood Mac singer Nicks had previously spoken about her decision to not have children, apart from a stepson with ex husband Kim Anderson.
Back in July, Nicks also spoke about about a horrific health scare which saw her postpone several tour dates. More on this here.
