Coldplay lead singer, Chris Martin has opened up about his battle with depression, and has shared things which have helped to raise his spirits.

Taking to Instagram, the Coldplay frontman, openly admitted that travelling the globe can be a lonely experience at times. Coldplay are currently on the road with their Music of the Spheres Tour, which first began in 2022.

The singer has shared his favourite ways for keeping his spirits up, hoping that others may find comfort from these tips.

Following a live show in Hong Kong, Chris Martin said: "I've noticed a few people recently, including myself, struggling a bit with depression so I was going to tell you some things that have been helping me on tour and in general in hopes that maybe some of them might be good for you too".

Martin continued: "The first thing I wanted to tell you was that there is a thing called freeform writing where you write for twelve minutes, all your thoughts, and then you burn it or throw it away. That's very good".

"Transcendental meditation has been really wonderful for me... There's a thing called Proprioception which is like body movement to help balance your brain. There is a man called Jim Costello, who did the Costello Method that's very helpful - especially for young people with ADHD or autism".

"stay grateful and happy to be alive"

As for other things which have helped to cheer him up, Chris Martin also mentioned a book called The Oxygen Advantage by Patrick G McKeown, the psychedelic music of Johns Hopkins, as well as the move, Sing Sing.

Martin also paid homage to a new musical artist called, Chloe Qisha, saying:"Her music makes me happy".

"There's some people dancing there, so maybe dancing too. Those are some of the things that are helping me stay grateful and happy to be alive", Martin also added.

Coldplay, who are still in the midst of their tour, set a new record for playing the largest stadium show of the 21st century, back in January. More on this from Nova here.
