CHVRCHES have made a return to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts respectively, ruling both rankings, dated June 9th, for a second time with the debut of new album Love Is Dead.
The Scottish group’s third LP starts at the top of both rankings with 28,000 equivalent units, according to Nielsen Music. 23,000 from that number are from traditional record sales. CHVRCHES score their second No. 1 on both charts following the debut of their preceding record Every Open Eye, which went straight to No. 1 on the Oct. 17, 2015-dated rankings with 34,000 copies sold.
The new record additionally starts at No. 11 on the all-genre Billboard 200, three stops away from the group’s previous best, that’s when Every Open Eye, debutedat its No. 8 peak. The band’s 2013 debut, The Bones of What You Believe, bowed and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 (and No. 3 on Alternative Albums and No. 5 on Top Rock Albums).
Meanwhile Chvrches are continuing to tour ‘Love is Dead’ Europe with a date at The Electric Picnic the final date on their summer stint. Here’s the remaining tour dates:
