The cost of bringing boarded-up council homes in Dublin city back into use is expected to run to 50 thousand euro per home.
Councillors are being asked to approve a giant 1.48 billion euro budget to run the city next year.
The bill for bringing vacant and derelict council homes in Dublin city back into use will run to 28 million euro next year.
Almost 50-thousand euro is expected to be spent per home according to the Irish Times.
The department of housing covering just over a fifth of the cost.
It means the city council will have to cough up the majority of the money, mostly by borrowing.
The head of DCC warned it wasn’t realistic to continue doing so at that level each year.
On Monday night councillors will be asked to give the go ahead to an overall budget of 1.48 billion euro for next year, the highest ever cost to run the city.
