Clocks could go forward in March 2021 and never go back again.
The European Parliament's Transport and Tourism Committee has backed plans to end the process of clocks going forward and backwards during the year.
It follows a consultation of four million people throughout Europe, including Ireland.
The European Parliament and member states now have to choose to stay on winter time or summer time.
