Last night during Coldplays' headline set at Glastonbury, the band paid a very touching tribute to the young band Viola Beach, who lost their lives in a car crash earlier this year.
Coldplay closed out Glastonbury last night with an eclectic set which really had something for everyone. During their performance the band took a moment to pay tribute to Viola Beach.
Chris Martin addressed the crowd during the set and said at this point in their show, they usually cover 'Heroes' by David Bowie but instead, they wanted to do something different.
Martin spoke about how Coldplay have been a band for 20 years and said he remembers when they were just starting out. He then said speaking of Viola Beach that "they reminded us of ourselves in our early days".
He then said "We're going to create Viola Beach's alternative future for them and let them play Glastonbury for a song," before adding "this would have been [Viola Beach] in 20 years."
Coldplay then let Viola Beach headline the main stage at Glastonbury for a moment as they projected a performance of the band playing their song 'Boys That Sing' onto the big screens.
Coldplay would later join in during the second verse after they gave Viola Beach their moment in the spotlight. You can watch the very moving tribute by Coldplay down below.
Bursting with pride. Tonight the @Viola_Beach boys' music made it to the greatest stage of them all https://t.co/Bnzb9FAkxU
