Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has shared his experiences of taking magic mushrooms.

Speaking to comedian Pete Holmes on the You Made It Weird Podcast, the singer said the experience "sort of confirmed my suspicions about the universe".

"Only once with magic mushrooms", was Martin's response when asked had he ever dabbled with psychedelics.

“I loved it, and that was good… it sort of confirmed my suspicions about the universe", he also added. "I was like, ‘Okay, yep, that seems to be true".

Martin continued, “I don’t do so well on drugs and alcohol; it messes with the music. Some people, it enhances it. For me, it doesn’t”.

Chris Martin teases new track "Weirdo"

Later on in the same interview, Chris Martin also teased a new single from Coldplay called "Weirdo".

“It’s been waiting to come out for a long time", Martin said. He also called the track “one of their best songs”.

Coldplay have already released "Higher Power" earlier in the year. The band performed the track when opening the 2021 Brit Awards earlier this year. They also performed the track during an episode of American Idol.

Coldplay are currently putting the finishing touches to their ninth studio album "Music of the Spheres". This will arrive next month.

Another single "Human Heart" is also set to be officially released next month. Exciting times!

"Music For Psychedelic Therapy"

Chris Martin also refrenced electronic musician Jon Hopkins' upcoming album ‘Music for Psychedelic Therapy’.

Martin hailed the album, calling it as a reminder that “you don’t actually need to take anything to get to that place".

Martin also added, “I felt like, after I did mushrooms once, that [was] really the confirmation I needed of how I feel about the universe, so I don’t need to do that again… but I think, for other people, it’s just amazing what it does".
