Colin Farrell and Ben Stiller are to co star in a new true crime film, Belly of the Beast.
Directed by All of Us Strangers’ Andrew Haigh, Belly of the Beast is adapted from the book Jack and Norman: A State-Raised Convict and the Legacy of Norman Mailer’s ‘The Executioner’s Song’ from Jerome Loving.
Adapted by Haigh and co-writer Alexis Jolly, Belly of the Beast is to “tell the timely and true story of the unlikely friendship between notorious literary titan Norman Mailer (Stiller) and his protégé, Jack Henry Abbott (Farrell)”.
Film To Centre Around “an unforgivable act of violence”
Elaborating further on this movie, media outlet Deadline also added, “Bolstered by Mailer’s mentorship, Abbott is paroled after nearly a decade in prison; he gains instant popularity among the literary elite but struggles with life on the outside”.
“When Mailer, creatively frustrated and envious of Jack’s rising star, turns his back on his infamous protégé, Jack spirals – committing an unforgivable act of violence in a New York City diner just six weeks after his release”.
Along with co-starring in the film, Colin Farrell will also serve as co-produce alongside his sister Claudine Farrell via their company, Chapel Place.
Farrell is currently filming the romantic comedy, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. This will also see him co star alongside Barbie’s Margot Robbie.
Last year, Colin Farrell also earned a Oscar nomination for his performance in ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’. Ahead of that ceremony, acclaimed international sand artist Sean Corcoran joined forces with Landbrokes to create a sand portrait of Farrell.
