With temperatures plummeting below freezing overnight – homeless charities are again stepping up calls for emergency accommodation.
Anthony Flynn from Dublin’s Inner City Helping Homeless says outreachers are beyond words to describe the crisis facing rough sleepers in the city.
He added that they have ‘no new news in regard to the opening of beds’ and that the December 18th deadline for beds is too late saying they need ‘access to emergency beds immediately’.
It's below freezing already and snow is forecast for tomorrow night so please save our mobile outreach unit phone number, 085-8389281, and please call us if you see anyone sleeping out tonight. #HomelessnessIsNotNormal #MyNameIs #AskWhy #fillaluas pic.twitter.com/hI2INPWlw6

Meanwhile, an Orange level weather warning remains in place for snow and ice today and tomorrow.
The National Emergency Coordination Group is urging people to take care on the roads and allow extra time for journeys.
