Connacht’s winning streak over three competitions has come to an end following Leinster’s New Years Day win over the westerners in the Guinness Pro14.
Leinster overcame Connacht 21-18 in a dramatic finish at the RDS as Leinster’s Max Deegan stole a last minute penalty in the decisive minutes to steal the show.
The side were trailing by three points before the penalty and try-scoring Deegan will be hailed a hero for the derby clash which took place in front of a huge home crowd.
Thank you! What a brilliant way to start 2018…@TheRDS as good as sold out for tomorrow with only single seats available! #LEIvCON #JoinTheRoar pic.twitter.com/ZrBcSho54f

Leinster manager, Leo Cullen stated: “We couldn’t quite shake them off, but it was good spirit from the boys in the end to hold them out. We made life quite difficult for ourselves.”
Connacht come away from the game with just a losing bonus point, while Leinster return to the RDS Arena this Saturday to face Ulster in a Conference B clash.
