Bomb disposal teams have carried out a controlled explosion in a North Dublin neighbourhood overnight.
Gardaí responded to the call shortly before half 10 last night.
Gardaí were alerted to an incident at Hampton Wood Drive in Finglas last night after reports of a device near a property.
Officers established a cordon and called in the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
Families, including some young children, had been evacuated and gardaí closed the road.
The Defence Forces carried out a controlled explosion nearby, and no one was believed to be injured.
Gardaí then declared the scene safe and they say that investigations are ongoing.
