It is believed that Nursing homes across Ireland are expected to begin receiving the Covid 19 vaccination from January 11th according to a draft timeline by the HSE.
The document, seen by The Irish Times outlines that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will be administered over a six-week period.
Meanwhile The National Public Heath Emergency Team have urged the closure of non essential retail from the 26th December.
CMO Dr Tony Holohan has warned that the spread of the virus is out of control with the number of cases doubling over the last week:
“Our level of concern continues to escalate,” he warned.
From today until January 12th the country is returning to Level 5 with some adjustments.
