A crowdfunding campaign to raise money to erect a statue in honour of for Irish musician Gary Moore, has been launched.
This campaign to erect this statue of the former Thin Lizzy star has been launched in Belfast, with the Wild Frontier Memorial Project appealing for donations to move the process onto the next stage.
The process began with a memorial show at the Empire Music Hall in Belfast back in 2019.
The campaign is hoping to add a further €10,000 to funds already raised, with €80,000 needed for the work to be completed.
“the music, the friendship and the memories”
Speaking on this project, campaign organisers stated that it is important to honour the legacy of Gary Moore.
“He brought us the music, the friendship and the memories,” they said. “We would like to honour Gary in a manner that he rightly deserves, so his music can be remembered by future generations long after all of us have left this earth”.
The campaign has already received the backing of former Thin Lizzy members Darren Wharten and Scott Gorham, Dead Daises’ Doug Aldrich, Mama’s Boys lead singer Pat McManus, along with Gary Moore’s family, Belfast Council and local councillors.
Further fundraising shows have also been pencilled in for Dublin’s Purty Kitchen on March 15. Another show will also take place at the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast on April 20.
