The Who's Roger Daltrey is selling his own brand of champagne to raise funds for cancer charities that are struggling to raise funds during the pandemic.
The Who frontman's award winning, limted edition Champagne Cuvée Roger Daltrey was made in partnership with Eminent Life.
This is not the first time that the rocker has forayed into the drinks market. His champagne has become well known in the luxury drinks market. It has won the Gold Medal Vinalies Internationales. It has also earned the Seal of Approval by Japan Wine Challenge's Tasting Panel.
Wine Inspector also gave it a 90 rating.
The bottle has Daltrey's signature along with the Who's iconic "Bullseye" logo on it.
Daltrey himself is a patron of the UK's Teenage Cancer Trust. He along with bandmate Pete Townshend, co-founded Cancer America. All profits made from the champagne sales will be donated to these charities, due to the lull in fundraising caused by the ongoing pandemic.
Since the start of the pandemic, 114 Cancer Trust Concerts have been cancelled.
The Who also had to cancel their tour of Ireland and the UK, due to the pandemic.
The reissue of their classic album "The Who Sell Out" is out next month (April).
Roger Daltrey released a statement.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to express my passion for Champagne through this limited edition cuvée. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do".
Founder and CEO for Eminent Life, Jerome Jacober also had this to say.
"We are delighted to be celebrating half a century of rock’n’roll for one of music’s most iconic bands, by producing a limited edition premium champagne. We’re thrilled with its success so far and the much-needed money it is raising for Roger's charity, Teen Cancer America and Teenage Cancer Trust".
Champagne Cuvée Roger Daltrey is available on Eminent Life. Fans of the Who can also get their hands on champagne glasses, featuring the band's "bullseye" logo too.
